About VIU Hockey
VIU Mariners Men's Hockey competes in the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL). The league provides opportunities to compete at a high-calibre level and attracts athletes who wish to earn an education while continuing to play after their junior hockey careers.
As part of the Club Sport Model, student-athletes are required to enroll in full time studies at Vancouver Island University and maintain a GPA standard throughout the competitive season.

Our Story
Get to Know Us
The VIU Mariners Hockey Association was started in 2017 as a club hockey team for Vancouver Island University. Since then, the Mariners have seen 60+ players play throughout their post-secondary journies. As a not-for-profit, the Mariners have managed to become a staple in the local hockey community, filling up the Nanaimo Ice Centre on Saturday nights in the winter.
