On the signing, Mariners GM Andrew Riddell had this to say:

“From the beginning of the recruiting process this year I was focused on powerful skaters. Without question Davis is just that and more. He brings an elite skating ability, paired with a terrific 200 foot game, high hockey IQ, and great offensive skill. Mariners fans can look forward to watching Davis use his speed to beat defenders and his front 200 foot game to shut down the other teams offensive weapons. We couldn’t be happier Davis chose to attend VIU to begin his education and continue his hockey career.”
