Mariners Announce First Commitment for 2024-25, '03 Goaltender Matthew Fleet

The Mariners are excited to announce the commitment of 03-born goaltender Matthew Fleet. Born in Calgary AB, Fleet played a few seasons with the U18 AA Canucks before making the jump to the KIJHL with the Kimberley Dynamiters. In 2022-23, Fleet helped take the Dynamiters to a KIJHL Championship, where he went 7-2-1 while maintaining a .935 sv%.
On the new signing, Mariners GM Andrew Riddell had this to say:
“Matt’s an incredibly athletic goalie who stands 6’4 without skates on. Matt also backstopped Kimberley to a KIJHL championship in 2023. Matt had many options in front of him to continue his career but ultimately chose VIU. We couldn’t be happier to be adding a goalie of Matt’s calibre to our goalie group.”
