The VIU Hockey Team is happy to announce another new commitment for the 2023-2024 season, Joshua Pufahl.
The 2002-born Calgary product put up 19 points (5G, 14A) in 26 games with the Kam River Fighting Walleye of the SIJHL.
"I'm very excited and honoured to have the opportunity to further my education and play hockey at VIU next year", says Josh. "(I'm) excited to get out to the coast at the end of the summer and go win a championship with this group."
On the signing, GM Andrew Riddell said "It was evident watching Josh's first shift he was a defenseman that would immediately step into our lineup, and play a big role. His ability to watch the play develop and think a couple steps ahead, always put him in the right position. Aside from all the natural talent Josh possesses, our conversations on the phone really solidified our decision to offer the commitment to Josh. He's a very mature player, knows what he wants to do for a career, and is someone I can see being a leader on our team in the years to come. We are excited to welcome Josh, and his family, to the VIU Mariners,” concluded Riddell. (SOURCE: SIJHL)
In Josh's junior career, he raked in 14 points in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and 19 points in the SIJHL. The defenseman is a strong addition to the backend of the 2023-2024 Mariners roster.
